Five bedrooms under thatch, fynbos to the horizon, and a jetty on the river. One lazy day at a time. Four and a half kilometres from Stanford village.
Coppull is a piece of Overberg fynbos farm with one thatched homestead on it. We keep it that way on purpose. The gate closes behind you and the reserve is yours — the river, the ridges, the whole quiet lot of it.
You turn off the Stanford road, cross the cattle grid, and the noise stops.
A Cape farmhouse, thatched and whitewashed, added to over two hundred years. Five bedrooms, five bathrooms, terracotta underfoot, a fireplace big enough to sit in, and a kitchen built for ten people cooking at once.
Bring your own food and wine — Stanford has a good butcher and a better farm stall. We supply the linen, the towels, the firewood and the quiet.
Tracks through the fynbos to the ridge. Duiker, tortoise, sugarbird, and a lot of proteas in July. Bicycles if you'd rather ride.
Our own jetty on the Kleinrivier. Fish off the end of it, swim, or take the canoe out early.
Braai on the terrace while it's light, then the indoor fireplace. Wood is stacked by the back door and it's on us.
Ten minutes to Stanford — brewery, wine bar, Saturday market. Hermanus and the whales are half an hour on.
Nothing is scheduled. There is no reception, no restaurant, no one knocking on the door. Vogelgat is 9.2 km away if you want a longer hike.
Two rooms are up under the thatch with the loft windows. Three are on the ground floor, opening onto the garden. Every one has its own bathroom.
No neighbours in sight. That is most of what people come for.

Message or phone and you'll get a person, usually within ten minutes. We'll tell you straight if the dates are gone rather than sell you something else.
